3rd BIOTRAILS GENERAL ASSEMBLY: PAVING THE WAY FOR TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE
The third General Assembly of the BIOTRAILS project served as a platform for the 11 consortium partners from nine different countries to convene, share progress, address challenges, and align on strategic actions, was successfully held on March 11th and 12th, 2025, at Adelphi’s offices in Berlin.
The two-day event featured updates from all Work Packages (WPs), highlighting key achievements. Participants were able to address the roadblocks faced during the second year of the implementation phase, demonstrating their integral role in the project’s success. Discussions revolved around maximising the impact of BIOTRAILS’ innovative outputs and exploring potential societal, environmental, and economic pathways to ensure broad application and effectiveness.
An interactive session dedicated to Dissemination and Communication efforts, where current gaps were examined and action plans were collectively developed to boost project visibility and stakeholder engagement, was a key part of the assembly.
Day two provided further in-depth insights through dedicated cross-fertilisation sessions, where each case study leader presented the progress of their respective implementations, including challenges encountered and strategies for enhanced stakeholder engagement through the Learning and Action Alliances (LAAs).
During the assembly, collaboration and synergies between BIOTRAILS and its sister Horizon Europe projects were explored, including avenues for input to IPBES beyond standard assessments and co-developing ideas for shared publications and a Special Issue.
Participants concluded the assembly by developing a comprehensive roadmap that outlines future stakeholder engagement activities, LAA developments, and capacity-building plans for each case study. This roadmap is a key tool in achieving BIOTRAILS’ overarching objectives of facilitating transformative biodiversity-related changes across multiple sectors and value chains.
