EU-Funded Projects Unite to Drive Transformative Change for Biodiversity
As the world prepares to mark Biodiversity Day on 22 May, 12 EU-funded projects have come together to launch the Transformative Change for Biodiversity campaign: a month-long initiative spotlighting the systemic shifts needed to tackle the biodiversity crisis.
Systemic Change for People and Planet
Backed by the findings of the 2024 IPBES Transformative Change Assessment, the campaign highlights the urgent need for wide-reaching change across environmental, social and economic systems. Biodiversity loss is not just an ecological concern, but a societal and ethical one.
Policy in Action
The EU is already taking a lead through bold frameworks such as the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the newly adopted Nature Restoration Law. These measures aim to halt biodiversity decline, restore ecosystems and build climate resilience.
Throughout the campaign, the Transformative Change Cluster will explore what transformative change looks like in practice, why science–policy links matter, and how inclusive, just transitions can be supported.
This collective effort calls for rethinking our relationship with nature and embracing new pathways to regeneration, for people and planet alike.
