Exploring Transformative Pathways: The BIOTRAILS Visualisation Tool is Now Live

The BIOTRAILS project is proud to announce the release of the BIOTRAILS Visualisation Tool, an open-access, online dashboard designed to bring science to life and support transformative change for biodiversity.

The Visualisation Tool aims to translate complex data on biodiversity, climate, and trade into interactive maps, charts, and scenarios. It enables users to explore how different policy, market, and community interventions can shape future pathways across our four diverse case studies:

Gold (Ghana): production impacts and global biodiversity footprint
Cocoa (Peru): consumption-driven biodiversity impacts and climate risks to production
Aquaculture & Fisheries (Greece): sea surface temperature and salinity projections
Handicrafts (Brazil): climate risks to natural materials and forest-based livelihoods

By transforming scientific data into intuitive visual insights, the BIOTRAILS Visualisation Tool supports stakeholders — from producers and policymakers to researchers and civil society — in identifying leverage points for action and co-designing sustainable futures.

‘Our goal was to make complex climate and biodiversity models accessible and interactive, empowering users to test scenarios and understand trade-offs,’ says Frini Lazarou, R&D Project Manager at eBOS Technologies. ‘This tool provides a shared reference point for dialogue, collaboration, and transformative change.’
